This blog is about the Pathways International organization on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The primary purpose of the blog will be to highlight the activities, functions, and services offered by Pathways for the hundreds of students that come to the Outer Banks from 45 countries around the world, to work, study, travel, and gain some experience of living in the United States. Most of the students come here on a J-1 visa, allowing the student to work for 90 days in the U.S. and another 30 days to travel. Others arrive to work an 18 month internship.

Whatever the case may be, traveling, living, and working in a foreign country creates many challenges for students who choose to participate in this kind of program. It wasn't long ago that the students were totally on their own once they arrived on the Outer Banks. But, now that has changed.

Pathways International Mission Statement:

Creating a path with our footsteps that any may follow, demonstrating the love of Christ.

Pathways International is committed to making the work-travel experience for international students and their employers a positive one. We provide support, information, and resources to help them navigate and orient to a different country, culture, and people. We provide interactive events to help connect them with American families and establish lifetime relationships. Students touched by Pathways develop a new, more positive attitude toward the United States, Americans, and Christians. We provide access to this education and appropriate support regardless of race, color, nationality, religion, or ethnic origin.

Pathways is a non-affiliated Christian faith based organization that is dedicated to assisting the internationals that choose the Outer Banks to complete the work/travel part of their education program. Assistance may be in the way of obtaining housing and transportation, fellowship, understanding cultural differences, banking/finance, employment issues, physical and spiritual needs.
